Amid coronavirus pandemic, Lockheed Martin is hiring 400 new workers in Denver area, plans for more
Work at Lockheed Martin continues during the coronavirus outbreak — and so does hiring. The aerospace and defense giant recently hired 400 people in Colorado and has more than 500 additional positions to fill.
“These are challenging times and we’re fortunate to continue hiring great talent to advance our critical national security and defense missions,” Armando Castorena, vice president of human resources for Lockheed Martin Space, said in a statement Thursday.
Between March 23 and April 10, Lockheed Martin had 148 new Denver News employees start work and 252 applicants accept offers for jobs in the Denver area, spokeswoman Lauren Cole wrote in an email. The company has 500 open positions in the area and is expecting about 400 college interns to come on board this summer.
The open positions include jobs in communications, cyber security, finance and engineering, Cole said. Lockheed Martin has about 8,300 employees in the Denver area.

Castorena said the current situation requires creativity while hiring employees, but added that Lockheed Martin has some of the most advanced technology in the Press Release Distribution Service In Denver world to do that. He said the company is committed to following all the safety standards and social distancing guidelines when interviewing and hiring people.
Lockheed Martin is reviewing the need for new employees to work on-site on a case-by-case basis. and is encouraging people to work from home when possible, according to the company’s website.
In March, the U.S. Space Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center awarded a $240 million contract to Lockheed Martin to develop a prototype payload for its Protected Tactical SATCOM. The system will connect warfighters with the next generation of satellite communication, which is more resistant to jamming.
